I really enjoyed your live with Laurel. I wrote a comment under her post so not sure if you saw it. But, like you, I also look forward to eggplants, and love them grilled, ripiene, sott’olio etc.. Also, this antipasto sounds absolutely wonderful and something I’d eat on repeat.
Hi Domenica - So happy to hear you are taking it easy before the workshop, at least as far as cooking goes! The Ciliegine, Cherry Tomato & Olive Antipasto sounds wonderful, I know I'll make it as soon as we have more cherry tomatoes available at the farmers' market. Thank you for all your hard work making us discover Italy and its food in a very enjoyable way!
I came for the Ciliegine, Cherry Tomato & Olive Antipasto and then I scrolled! Oh my! Italians, I have to admit, have the absolute best summer recipes, especially antipasti…or what o would call elegant picnic food. Fabulous.
I was at the book event and the Ciliegine, Cherry Tomato & Olive Antipasto was delicious! I’ll definitely be making it this summer. Northern Virginia is still blessedly cool; 48 degrees this morning! Enjoy your time in Maine and safe travels.
There are two stands at my local farmers market in Alexandria that carry them. This is not the Old Town market, but a smaller Wednesday market. One is Ochoa Produce, but I can't remember the name of the other. I'm pretty sure they attend other markets in the DMV.
Buon riposo! You sure deserve it—I’ve marveled at your promo schedule.
Yesterday’s weather was wild in New England! How lovely you had a fireplace to enjoy.
I love the thought of these roasted tomatoes and mozzarella etc. I often buy cherry tomatoes or those “Campari” mid sized ones, and when they get a little past peak on my counter I toss them in the oven—never thought of using fennel pollen and now I can’t wait to!
Feeling like these “aperi-cena” ideas are all I want this summer…
I love summer aperi-grazing. Cherry tomatoes have been engineered to be very tasty. I have mixed feelings about this LOL but when I'm really craving tomatoes and they're not in season, cherry tomatoes really do hit the xpot.
This summer, and every summer, I look forward to anything with peaches! 🍑 I’m looking forward to trying all of the recipes in today’s newsletter but I have a question. Here in North Carolina I can’t find good Italian bread. Everything is a mushy replica. When I lived in Virginia I’d go to “The Italian Store” in Arlington. Can you post/repost a recipe that I could try at home?
I have never actually posted a recipe for homemade Italian bread. But I love the idea of tackling this. I do have several focaccia/pizza recipes and a recipe for olive oil panini that could be shaped into little loves you could slice them into crostini: https://buonadomenica.substack.com/p/panini-allolio-olive-oil-rolls
Or, the bread doesn't necessarily have to be Italian; just good country bread that can be sliced.
I was delighted to read your newsletter after having spent a week in Sicily!!! Ouch!!!! Hopefully we will talk soon!!! I am still at the airport in Frankfurt....

I think I missed that comment. I adore summer eggplants, especially sott’olio. Can’t wait!

Thank you for reading, Odile. I can’t remember if I asked you: do you go to the Wednesday market at Sherwood Hall?
Yes, we do, Domenica. We usually go when it opens at 8. If we happened to go a little later, I sort of look for you... I love our market!

Thanks, Jolene. I owe you an email. Will be in touch soon xox
No rush at all! xx

Yes ~ thank you for coming! It was such a lovely event. I am hoping to come to more supper clubs. xo
Six weeks on the road must be grueling!
By the way, do you have a reliable source of zucchini blossoms in the DMV? I can't find them for love or money. And I truly love them.

Definitely. It’s hard to go without tomatoes!
