Classic Linguine (or Spaghetti) with Clams

Make sure the clams you buy are at their freshest—they should be tightly closed. If you can find tiny manila clams, use those. Otherwise, fresh littlenecks will do fine. Soak them, as directed in the recipe, to remove any sand and grit.
